Ancotrans is strengthening its commercial organisation with the appointment of Lise Kirkensgaard Corrie as new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) as per 1st of June. The move supports the company’s growth strategy and ambition to deliver even greater value, transparency and customer experience across all markets.

The new Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will lead a more structured and proactive commercial approach – with a clear focus on customer collaboration, pipeline management and account development.

Queen of the Road: 10% Female Drivers – A Milestone Reached

What started as an ambition is now a reality — and it strengthens the service we deliver to our customers. By the end of 2025, women make up 10% of our driver workforce, helping us secure capacity, stability, and reliable container transport across Europe.

A goal reached. A signal sent

The transport industry has been male dominated for a long time. But things only move when someone decides to move them.
That’s exactly why we launched Queen of the Road — with a clear goal:
10% female drivers by the end of 2025. And as one company across four countries, we made it.
Not because it “looked good on paper.”
Not because it was trendy.
But because being a great driver has nothing to do with gender — and everything to do with skills, responsibility, and dedication.

More drivers. More capacity. Better deliveries.

The driver shortage is one of the biggest challenges in our industry — and it affects all of us.
Customers need reliable capacity, and goods still need to move, no matter the season or the market.

That’s why opening the door wider — and making sure people feel welcome once they step in — isn’t just the right thing to do. It’s necessary.

Queen of the Road was created to help:

–  Make container trucking a realistic and attractive career choice for women too
–  Break outdated stereotypes about who “belongs” behind the wheel in the trucks
–  Build a stronger, more diverse driver community at Ancotrans — so we can keep delivering for our customers

Never alone behind the wheel

For many drivers, it’s not the truck that makes the difference — it’s the people around you. Being new in the industry can come with a steep learning curve, and the day-to-day work can sometimes be physically demanding. That’s why a supportive culture matters. Knowing you can ask for help, share a laugh, and rely on your colleagues makes all the difference — and it creates the kind of workplace where drivers feel safe, respected, and never alone on the job.

“Being a woman in a male-dominated industry is not scary at all, and I think it’s important to show that women can drive trucks too – and that everyone in our workforce is equally valuable!

I sometimes face physical challenges — the doors on some containers can be difficult to open and shut. Or the tarpaulin can be positioned so high that it’s hard to reach, while also having the strength to cut it open. But there’s always someone you can ask for help, and you just take any jokes that might come with a smile. All colleagues are incredibly helpful, and that means the world when you’re new to the industry.

I think ANCO’s Queen of the Road is a fantastic way to show the industry and women that it can be done. That when you are a woman — and maybe even a parent — it’s still possible to be a truck driver. But it does require more people across the industry to open up and look for solutions.”

No “man’s world” — just great drivers

John Aage Hansen, one of our drivers and Employee Representatives, is a strong believer in creating a more inclusive transport industry — and he sees the value of diversity first-hand in everyday operations. For him, it’s not about gender, but about skills, mindset, and teamwork.
As he puts it:

“It’s a great thing to get more women into the industry. There’s no such thing as a ‘man’s world’ anymore — women are just as skilled behind the wheel. I always tell my female colleagues: don’t be afraid to ask for help. This job gives you freedom and independence, but you’re never alone. We’ve got each other’s backs.”

With a legacy built on 143 years of transport, ANCOTRANS now begins a new chapter. Effective June 1st, 2025, Peter Groth steps into the role of CEO, taking over from Anne Kathrine Steenbjerge, 5th generation owner and now Chairwoman of the Board. The green and yellow values stay strong—and the direction forward is clear.

A CEO Transition Built on Trust and Continuity

After more than a decade as CEO, Anne Kathrine Steenbjerge is stepping aside from daily operations to focus on her role as majority shareholder and Chairwoman of the Board. Her successor, Peter Groth, brings 26 years of logistics experience—17 of them from DSV—and a strong belief in people, customer focus, and long-term value creation.

“This is a big moment for me personally and for the company. As the 5th generation leader, finding a CEO who understands our business, our people, and our values was crucial. I truly believe that Peter is the right person to lead ANCOTRANS into the future, and I’m excited to support him as Chairwoman.”

As we jingle all the way to the end of 2024, let’s take a sleigh ride down memory lane. This year has been a rollercoaster, but thanks to you—our valuable customers and partners—we’ve had a good time, despite resistance, and together we have hit some high notes too!

We are pleased to announce that we have opened a new office in Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart as of 01 February this year. This move is in line with our strategy to increase our market presence, expand our European Ancotrans network and offer more local opportunities to our customers.   

Enormous opportunities for intermodal transport.

The south-west of Germany offers enormous opportunities for intermodal transport. The greater Stuttgart area and Baden-Württemberg are home to numerous global companies and are therefore an industrial centre with great potential. The geographical location also offers additionalopportunities between Munich, the French border and the greater Mannheim area.

AncoModal in Germany

In our German market, we have access to an extensive rail network and arrange bookings via the market-leading rail operators. We guarantee daily departures along the main corridors and logistics hubs, such as Stuttgart/Kornwestheim, Nuremberg, Ulm and other southern German terminals. We manage the first and last mile primarily with our own fleet. 

We are excited about this new chapter and look forward to the possibilities it will bring!

More than 140 years of transports

It all began with horse and carriage. In 1882 the founder, Anders Nielsen, offered horse powered transport of luggage to and from the ports of Copenhagen. From there the business grew, and from 1904 we operated as a trusted contractor for Københavns Frihavns Aktieselskab/Copenhagen’s Freeport. Since then, the company has been passed down from father to daughter and son-in-law, from son to son and, most recently from father to daughter.

When Henrik Steenbjerge came into the company in 1969 Ancotrans had a fleet of around fifty trucks and still a few horses in the stable! The trucks transported everything from beer to asphalt. Luckily, Henrik Steenbjerge saw the global tendency towards container freight and in the 1970s decided to focus on this niche. A very successful strategy. In 1982 Anders Nielsen & Co/Ancotrans opened our first office in Aarhus. And in 2008 we opened our first office outside Denmark; Ancotrans GmbH in Hamburg. Later more offices were opened to best serve our clients nationally as well as internationally.

Today our truck number 1882 runs out of South West Germany, reminding us where it all started.
